Aerosmith kicks off farewell tour in September

Aerosmith will bring their Peace Out farewell tour to Footprint Center in downtown Phoenix on Sunday, Dec. 10, for a show with special guests the Black Crowes.

The farewell tour will celebrate five decades of Aerosmith’s groundbreaking hits as they celebrate 50 years as America’s greatest rock band.

THX, founded by filmmaker George Lucas, will bring the THX Certified Live! high-fidelity experience on the road, calibrating the audio in each arena.

In a joint statement, Aerosmith shared, “It’s not goodbye it’s PEACE OUT! Get ready and walk this way, you’re going to get the best show of our lives.”

Produced by Live Nation, the 40-date North American tour will kick off in Philadelphia on Sept. 2 with stops in iconic arenas across the U.S. and Canada, including Los Angeles’ Kia Forum, New York’s Madison Square Garden and Austin’s Moody Center before wrapping in Montreal at Bell Centre on Jan. 26.

Aerosmith PEACE OUT with special guest The Black Crowes! Fans will see one of the most significant American rock bands in history one last time during this not-to-be-missed final tour. Every night will celebrate the five decades of Aerosmith’s groundbreaking hits as they celebrate 50 years as America’s greatest rock band. In addition, THX will bring their THX Certified Live! high-fidelity experience on the road, calibrating each arena with leading-edge technology so fans don’t miss a beat of Aerosmith’s classic rock tunes in quality audio.

In a joint statement, Aerosmith shared, “It’s not goodbye it’s PEACE OUT! Get ready and walk this way, you’re going to get the best show of our lives.”

The tour will also offer a variety of different VIP packages and experiences for fans to take their concert experience to the next level. Packages vary but include a premium reserved ticket, a personal photo opportunity with band members, limited edition merchandise and more!

The tour announcement comes a few months after a woman sued Tyler for sexual assault when she was a teenager in the 1970s. Julia Misley, who had spoken out publicly for years about Tyler’s treatment of her as a teenager, filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles thanks to a rule temporarily lifting the statute of limitations on sexual abuse suffered as children. Misley alleges sexual battery, sexual assault and intentional infliction of distress over a three-year period on the road with the rocker, including a coerced abortion.

Tyler has denied all allegations. Misley has since become an anti-abortion advocate in the US, citing her experience with Tyler in the context of anti-abortion campaigns, including an interview with Tucker Carlson on Fox News.

Aerosmith, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001, has sold more than 150m albums during their over 50-year career, won four Grammys, conducted 10 world tours and notched many top 10 pop hits, including I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing, Walk This Way, Dream On, Jaded and What It Takes. The band recently wrapped their Las Vegas residency, Aerosmith: Deuces Are Wild, at Dolby Live at Park MGM, though a portion of the residency was canceled when Tyler voluntarily entered a rehabilitation program.

The band said Kramer decided to not take part in the current dates on the upcoming tour. He’s still a part of the group, but the drummer has been on leave to “focus his attention on his family and health” since their Vegas residency last year. Drummer John Douglas will continue to play in his place.

Perry called Kramer their brother. The band said his “legendary presence behind the drum kit will be sorely missed.”

Before the 40-date tour wraps, Perry said other cities domestically and internationally could be added.

“It’s the final farewell tour, but I have a feeling it will go on for a while,” he said. “But I don’t know how many times we’ll be coming back to the same cities. It could very possibly be the last time.”
