Country singer Jason Aldean ends concert early after suffering heat stroke on stage

The country singer, who launched his Highway Desperado tour without incident on Friday, was forced to halt and postpone his second show in Hartford, Connecticut, on Saturday after suffering heat exhaustion during his performance, according to an Instagram post from the concert’s venue, Xfinity Theatre.

“Yesterday’s Jason Aldean show will be rescheduled for a future date,” the venue wrote Sunday. “We appreciate your patience as we work on rescheduling a new date, as well as the outpouring of well wishes for Jason. A rep has confirmed he is now doing well after experiencing heat stroke during last night’s performance.”

“I’ve had a lot of people check in on me today after hearing about what happened last night at the show in Connecticut,” Aldean told his followers. “I’m doing fine. It’s just one of those things – it was hot, I was playing golf all day yesterday. I think it was a combination of dehydration and heat exhaustion.”

“It was pretty intense last night,” Aldean added. “Anybody that was at the show knows how hot it was. I knew it was coming. I was trying to get through as much of the show as I could, and eventually I knew it wasn’t going to happen and I was trying to just get off stage and figure out what was going on.”

Aldean chimed in himself with a video message to fans on social media later in the day. The clip was uploaded to his Twitter account and on Instagram Stories.

“I’ve had a lot of people checking on me today after hearing about what happened last night at the show in Connecticut,” Aldean said to the camera.

He assured fans that he is “doing fine. Just one of those things. It was hot, I was playing golf all day yesterday and then got to the show. There was a combination of dehydration and just heat exhaustion. I’m hearing a lot of stuff going around, ‘heat stroke,’ all this stuff. I don’t think it was quite that serious, but it was pretty intense last night at the show. Anybody that was at the show knows how hot it was.”

The fan captioned the video: “It was hotter than hell. It was bad enough just standing in the pit I can’t imagine performing in jeans, boots, and hat under all those lights in that humidity with no breeze.

He added he thinks he suffered “a combination of dehydration and heat exhaustion,” but stopped short of saying he suffered heat stroke, adding “I don’t think it was quite that serious.”

Aldean said he received two IVs following the incident.

“It was pretty intense last night at the show – anybody that was at the show knows how hot it was,” he said, adding “I was trying to get through as much of the show as I could and eventually it was just like, I knew it wasn’t going to happen and I was trying to just get off stage and figure out what was going on.”

Jason Aldean show will be rescheduled for a future date,” Xfinity Theatre said in a statement. “We appreciate your patience as we work on rescheduling a new date, as well as the outpouring of well wishes for Jason.”

“A rep confirmed he is now doing well after experiencing a heat stroke during last night’s performance,” the statement added. “Please stay tuned to all social media for updates as they become available.”
