A magnitude 3.5 earthquake woke up parts of the San Francisco Bay Area on Tuesday morning.
A series of magnitude 2.6 to 3.5 earthquakes hit near Pacifica Tuesday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The first quake hit just after 6 a.m. It had a depth of almost 6 miles with light shakes reportedly felt down the Peninsula, parts of the East Bay and as far south as Santa Cruz, according to the USGS’s Did You Feel It?
The earthquake which struck at 6:01 a.m., was centered in Pacifica, along an area of the coastal city around the San Andreas fault, and was strong enough to be felt near San Francisco International Airport.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported an initial 3.5 earthquake at 6:01 a.m. local time near Pacifica, followed by a pair of 2.6 aftershocks at 6:03 and 6:04 a.m. local time.
there were no reports of damage or injuries. Residents from Santa Cruz to San Francisco felt the quakes.
The earthquakes come as strong winds and heavy showers impact the Bay Area. California has also seen heavy snow and strong rain in recent weeks.
