Antonio Rudiger was left covered in blood after netting Real Madrid’s late equaliser against Shakhtar Donetsk after colliding with the rival goalkeeper in the Champions League.
The former Chelsea defender got his head on Toni Kroos’ long pass into the box to flick it past the onrushing Anatoliy Trubin with the ball bouncing over the line via the post.
Having initially got back to his feet, Rudiger received medical attention before being walked off the pitch at the Polish Army Stadium as blood dripped from his head.
Real Madrid can now turn their attention to El Clásico on Sunday 16 October.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side will face their biggest challenge yet when they host Xavi’s Barcelona on Sunday, 16th October.
