The Jacksonville Jaguars made lots of splashy moves in free agency on Monday, and those moves continued into Tuesday.
ESPN Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter first reported that the Jags released linebacker Myles Jack.
Jack, who was drafted by the Jaguars from UCLA in the 2016 NFL Draft, led the Jags in tackles last season, Schefter said.
The Jaguars later on Tuesday confirmed that they had let Jack go. General Manager Trent Baalke released the following statement:
“Myles has made a positive contribution on and off the field in Jacksonville, providing leadership in our locker room as a captain and making a significant impact on the First Coast community. His recognition as the team’s 2021 Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee is indicative of his commitment to inspiring positive change in those around him. We appreciate all he has done for our organization and wish him the best.”
He famously “wasn’t down” after recovering a fumble in the 2017 AFC Championship against the New England Patriots.
Jack ended up with the ball, got up and headed for the end zone, but as you may remember, officials blew the play dead and stopped what would have been a touchdown.
Another talent drafted by the Jaguars, wide receiver D.J. Chark, reportedly intends to sign a deal with Detroit Lions.
