The Ravens were matching up against their DMV cross-region rival Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football in Game 2 of the preseason for each team.
It’s just preseason and has very little meaning to a player like Washington offensive lineman Sam Cosmi, who knows his role on the team. But that doesn’t mean the game and environment – which ended in a 29-28 Washington win that ends the Ravens’ record-24-game preseason streak – are devoid of emotion and passion.
Cosmi went full-blown Griddy after a Commanders’ touchdown with just 1:49 left in the first half. A fight ensued after Commanders offensive lineman Nick Gates absolutely leveled Ravens defensive back Ar’Darius Washington.
There’s very little love lost between these two teams who both share fanbases in the DMV. Cosmi was very vocal about the Ravens’ 24-game preseason winning streak they’re attempting to extend to 25 on Monday night.
“I think it’s a stupid record!” Cosmi said. “Who gives a s*** about preseason games? If we beat it, great,” Cosmi said. “We’re gonna beat it, so there you go.”
The Commanders had contributed the most losses out of any team to Baltimore’s win streak, having lost to the Ravens five times in the preseason since 2016. Washington had lost to them every preseason since 2017, excluding 2020 when the preseason was not played due to COVID-19.
