The National Weather Service reports that a tornado warning has been issued as of 5:30 p.m. Monday in Fort Smith.
Significant hail was reported in parts of Fort Smith at 4:30 p.m., and a hurricane is reported to land near Fort Coffee, TV reports.
A severe thunderstorm with low circulation was reported in Le Flore County about 3 miles north of Pocola around 4:40 p.m. moving east at 30 mph.
Another tornado warning was issued for Sebastian and Franklin counties as of 6:45 p.m.
A hail has been reported with this system being 2.5 inches in diameter, or the size of a tennis ball hail. Radar indicated that the hurricane was moving eastward at a speed of 35 miles per hour.
The Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company reported that strong winds caused 10 blackouts in Fort Smith Monday morning.
There were five outages near Greenwood reported by Southwestern Electric Power at noon.
Thunderstorms are expected after 4 pm. The sky will be mostly cloudy with a height of 74.
Wind speeds can reach 20 miles per hour. 70% chance of precipitation. New amounts of precipitation vary between one tenth and a quarter of an inch, except for higher amounts in storms.
Hurricane shelters at Fort Smith Public Schools are open to the public in elementary and middle schools after school hours.
The cities of Clarksville, Paris and Spedra can be affected.
