The Browns are one of the most interesting teams in the NFL this season. It’s the first season with Deshaun Watson under center from Week 1, but he won’t play tonight. Not to mention, the Jets have been the talk of the offseason after acquiring Aaron Rodgers from the Packers. Again, Rodgers won’t play tonight, but we are excited for football all the same. These Browns betting promos can help bettors win big on the first game of the preseason.
DraftKings Sportsbook: Bet $5 on the Browns, win $150
This DraftKings Sportsbook promo will provide bettors with a guaranteed bonus for Browns vs. Jets tonight. All it takes is a $5 wager on either team to win $150 in bonus bets. The best part about this offer is that the bonus bets will convert instantly. Bettors will claim these bonuses before the game even starts. Think of this offer as a head start for new players. With the NFL preseason coming up, it’s the perfect time to get in on the action.
Regardless, the evidence mounted all evening long that this was the preseason opener — a game highlighted by sloppy play, mind-boggling penalties and poor play amid flashes of brilliance. While Zach Wilson showcased some improvement in the first quarter for New York and helped lead a half that was dominated by Gang Green, it was the Browns who had the last laugh.
Their rookie quarterback out of UCLA, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, shined in the second half and gave Cleveland fans something to look forward to for the next month. “DTR” made plays with his legs, arm and even threw a great block that led to a Browns touchdown.
Fans of the Dawg Pound can probably sleep a little better knowing their insurance option behind starter Deshaun Watson showed up and showed out. The rookie went 8-11 through the air for 82 yards and a touchdown, adding six carries for 37 yards on the ground.
As for the Jets, their night was headlined by the continued honeymoon with Aaron Rodgers. The new signal-caller was a fixture on the NBC broadcast, as either the topic of discussion or a participant in them during the third quarter. If nothing else, they should be encouraged by the play of some younger players.
Bet the Falcons in a 6-point teaser
Putting Atlanta in a two-team, six-point teaser last year was true gold. The Falcons finished 15-2 on the season as a six-point teaser leg. That could certainly continue as they are projected to face the second-easiest schedule of opponents in the league based on forecasted win totals. I write a weekly teaser article. You better believe that the Falcons will make the card quite often.
Why I like the Falcons to contend
RB Bijan Robinson could be Derrick Henry 2.0. Last season, the Falcons backs had three players inside the top 20 for efficiency. Tyler Allgeier was fifth in the league for yards after contact per carry, while ranking top 10 in success rate. Arthur Smith likes to run the ball. You can contribute Smith to the Titans being so ground-dominant spearheading King Derrick Henry to a 2,000 rushing season in 2020. Now, the Falcons picked a running back in the 1st round of the draft?
Smith has plans for Robinson. There’s a reason he’s only 3-1 to win offensive rookie of the year. That number doesn’t intrigue me. I would be looking for a better number once the season starts.
One of Kaylor’s favorite DFS picks for Jets vs. Browns in the NFL Hall of Fame Game 2023, where every player on DraftKings is $11,400 and $12,000 on FanDuel, is Browns quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson. A long-time starter for UCLA, Thompson-Robinson threw for 10,710 yards and 88 touchdowns over parts of five seasons with the Bruins while also adding 1,826 yards rushing and 28 rushing touchdowns.
The Browns made him a fifth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and now he’s battling with Joshua Dobbs and Kellen Mond for a spot in Cleveland’s quarterbacks room behind Watson. Thompson-Robinson should see significant work on Thursday with Cleveland only dressing three quarterbacks. His playmaking upside makes him a player you should have exposure to in your NFL DFS lineups.
Kaylor’s NFL DFS strategy also includes rostering Jets quarterback Zach Wilson. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft should see extended playing time now that he’s on the second string. Playing time in preseason was something lacking for Wilson last year after he tore his meniscus after just five preseason passes, and that injury led to him missing three regular-season games.
