We’re quickly approaching our ALERT DAY Thursday, when severe weather state-wide is anticipated… Before we get there, however, we’ll have a chance for scattered showers and storms tonight as a warm front lifts through the state. So, although dry conditions will last through much of the day, storms will move in after the evening commute. A few of those storms could be strong-severe, and a brief tornado can’t be ruled out.
Very windy conditions are also expected tonight into tomorrow and wind gusts over 40mph will be possible, even outside of thunderstorms! By late tomorrow morning, we’re going to be watching any storms that can form in our area closely. The environment will be favorable for severe weather, and storms will be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail, and tornadoes (some strong).
The threat will extend mainly from 11am-8pm in Central and SW Mississippi and this is the time you’ll want to make sure you have several ways to hear warnings. Already think about where you would go if one is issued for your area.
And although Friday will be dry, we’ll have another potential for showers and storms heading into the weekend. Stay tuned for frequent forecast updates!
