Morant reveals ‘Ja 1′s’ signature shoe with daughter Kaari!– OnMyWay Mobile App User News

Ja Morant got the Christmas gift that he always wanted.

Ja Morant announced the launch of his first signature shoe with a heartwarming video on Sunday, as he enlisted the help of his daughter Kaari to unveil the new sneaker.

In the clip, Morant is sitting on a wooden bench as Kaari comes over and hands him a wrapped shoebox.

‘Got daddy a gift?’ he asks.

With Kaari’s help, Morant opens the box to reveal a light blue, pink and yellow colorway of his very own Nike shoe, the Ja 1.

Sharing a promotional image of the shoe to his Twitter, Morant said,’ I didn’t get here by myself.

‘This is for Dalzell, Murray, Memphis and everybody who believed in 12 from Day One.’

While the guard will debut the shoes in Memphis’ Christmas game vs. the Warriors, according to ESPN, they reportedly won’t be available via retail until spring and summer 2023.

The shoe, which features the star’s ‘Ja’ logo on the tongue and has a mesh and leather upper, is expected to be priced at $110.

‘Just being able to have a signature shoe with Nike, not a lot of guys have been able to achieve that,’ Morant told ESPN.

‘It’s definitely a big milestone for me and something that I’ll never forget.’

The 23-year-old is averaging 26.5 points per game this season and has led Memphis to a 20-11 record ahead of their first-ever Christmas game.

Kevin Durant ‘sad’ after Ja Morant’s Nike signature shoe reveal

The announcement of his new shoe, the Nike Ja 1, prompted a great response from Kevin Durant, who congratulated Morant on the achievement, while expressing he was “sad” that the star point guard wouldn’t be hooping in his own KD4’s any longer.

Via Durant on Twitter: “It’s a sad day knowing Ja will never hoop in the KD4s again….great start for 12 brand with these…”

Up until getting his own signature shoe, Morant was frequently spotted rocking Durant’s line of shoes on the court. KD clearly took notice and appreciated that. Now that Morant has reached the level of superstardom that warrants his own shoe deal, however, he’ll be putting his KDs by the wayside in order to introduce his own footwear flair.

While Durant is sad to see his KD shoes get passed along, it’s impossible not to be happy for Morant to get his own signature shoe.

NBA fans will get their first glimpse of the “Nike Ja 1” during the Christmas Day showdown against the Golden State Warriors, which tips off at 8:00 p.m. EST.

Ja Morant described the inspiration behind his new Nike shoe, via Complex.

“It’s a shoe for underdogs who have the dawg in them,” said Morant his signature Ja 1 shoes. “Kicks for anyone who has ever been underrated or overlooked, who’s been told they’re too small, or their dreams too big.”
